Jacob Stoltz Graphic Art

Do you have a project that could use a classic, hand-drawn touch?
Does your project need information presented in a clear, professional, pleasing manner?

Whether you're looking for an illustration or a digital layout, my designs are rooted in mid-20th Century America, a time when design was a craft imbued with harmony and style.

I will make your vision a reality.

In addition to illustration and design, my writing will present your ideas to the world with economy and wit, and my high editorial standards will give you confidence in your copy.

Would you like a portrait of yourself or a loved one, drawn in classic style? How about a drawing or watercolor painting of your house or property? My rates are competitive, and the result would be a very special piece of art.

I have taught drawing and comic art to all ages, from elementary school to adult. Hire me to teach a class, a workshop, or as a private tutor.

About Me

I grew up in Northeast Minneapolis and began drawing comics at age eight. I studied intaglio printmaking, art history, and writing at Hamline University in St. Paul, and in winter/spring 2001 I studied abroad in Paris, France. At Hamline, I was Art Director of the student newspaper, The Oracle, and drew the editorial cartoons

My career as a gallery artist has varied, from landscape etchings to one-panel gag cartoons. In 2006 I was hired by the Workhaus Collective, a Minneapolis theater group, to illustrate and design a promotional poster for one of their plays. Thus began my freelance art career.

Collaboration is magical process. When working with a client, both parties share ideas back and forth until I take over for the final draft. When looking at the end result it is difficult to tell what pieces came from whom, but both the client and I are always happy and satisfied.
